(Crowd) size matters

Dear Donald –

Did we really need to do that to Sean?  You just turned his first press conference into one of the most awkward things I’ve ever seen in the Briefing Room. He’ll never get his first White House briefing back, and now he’s spent it yelling at the press for showing photos of your crowds.

Sure, I get that you’re upset that you didn’t fill up the place. As Van Jones said today, you see yourself as the head of a movement and movements are judged by the size of the crowds. If your crowds are small, then so is your movement, and maybe you’re not actually as big and important as you think. I get it. But you’re the big guy now. It’s time to suck it up.

If you really think the American people care about that (other than the clear schadenfreude on the left), you’re wrong. There are much more important things going on in the world. If you want a quick list, just tune into any of the coverage of the 673 Women’s Marches today. You’ll find a lot of people talking about things much more important than how many folks came out to the Mall yesterday.
